MARY DEVINCENTIS, GABRIELLE GRAESSLE, EMILY NOELLE LAMBERT

Untitled Miami Beach, 2024

December 3 – 8, 2024

Freight+Volume is pleased to announce our participation in Untitled Art Miami Beach 2024, taking place from December 4-8 in Miami Beach. Located in booth C-51, Freight+Volume will be showcasing paintings from Gabrielle Graessle and Mary DeVincentis, complimented by a suite of new sculptural vessels by Emily Noelle Lambert.

Mary DeVincentis, who lives and works in NYC, explores the darker side of humanity in her very personal and private narrative of image-based painting. DeVincentis is an intuitive and exquisite painter of reverie, mysticism, and vulnerability—a maker of gateways into otherworldly realms. The pagan, supernatural, and botanical motifs in her whirling compositions are so effective that one longs to escape into her magical creations, no matter what dangers they may reveal.

Emily Noelle Lambert's new body of work takes her two-dimensional painting practice into the three-dimensional realm. These vessels, alive with texture and color, pay homage to the buzzing of life that surrounds her studio in New Hampshire. Abstracted, fantastical vessels sit upon beautiful plinths fashioned from found and repurposed wood in an inventive blurring of the line between sculptural object and support. Lambert's sculptures provide a tactile counterpoint to the work of the two painters, a manifestation of that same wonder that one can reach out and touch.

Gabrielle Graessle is a Swiss artist based in Andalusia whose work blurs the lines between pop culture and pure imagination, prophetic symbolism and childlike unpretentiousness. Her work is painted in a faux naif style often incorporating glitter and spray paint while elements of text serve to simultaneously clarify and obfuscate the meaning of the image. In her style a Birkin bag or a Cartier ring becomes a hieroglyphic symbol of capitalism and pop cultural obsessions made weightier than the sum of its parts.

Despite their surface-level differences, these artists share a delight in form, palette, and imagery. They have pushed their individual visions to the utmost, based on years of experience both inside and outside of the studio.
