Freight+Volume will be presenting works by Samuel Jablon and Kristen Schiele at UNTITLED, San Francisco 2018 in Booth B2. Samuel Jablon’s paintings are both meant to be read and prevent the viewer from reading them clearly. In his paintings, language is a painterly tool, with each word, phrase, or letter demanding its own gestural execution - letters are applied with paint, scratched into the surface, or spelled out with tiny shards of mirrored glass or tile. Kristen Schiele's paintings embody the spirit of crossover and counterculture. Brooklyn-based Schiele is a wonderfully agile and gifted collage artist and "sculptural painter" who weaves poetic tableaus from the fabric of pulp and rave culture.
